Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treat Recipe

-- Advertisements --
You will absolutely love the simplicity of this peanut butter rice krispie treat recipe, as it only requires five ingredients and you most likely already have all the ingredients you need! (The only ones that I am sometimes missing is the sweetened condensed milk or chocolate chips)
This recipe requires no baking, so takes less than 20 minutes to complete.  All you are basically going to do is melt the ingredients, mix and let set! Its that simple!
The best thing with this recipe is that you can use your imagination when it comes to setting the treats, as you don’t have to create squares, you can make any shape you want.

INGREDIENTS (Treats)

  • 1/4 cup of smooth peanut butter.
  • 1/4 cup of corn syrup
  • 2/3 cup of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar.
  • 4 cups of rice krispie cereal

INGREDIENTS (Topping)

  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 4 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Over medium heat, mix the peanut butter, syrup, condensed milk and brown sugar.  Mix until the sugar has combined and the mixture has thickened.  You need to stir this constantly.
  2. Remove mixture from the heat.
  3. Add the rice krispies to the above mixture and mix so that everything is coated.
  4. Pack the above into your preferred pan (grease the pan)
    • I sometimes use cupcake holders for individual portions.
  5. Let the mixture cool before cutting into squares.
  6. For the topping, melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter over low heat. (These measurements make a thick topping, if you want a thinner one just half the ingredients).
  7. Top the squares as you like, for some ideas check the extra tips below.

EXTRA TIPS

  • Create two portions of the topping, one with the mixture as stated above, and one with pure while chocolate chips.  Now dip half of the treat into one mixture, let it harden, then dip the other half into the second mixture.  You now have two tone treats (shown in the picture above)
  • OR, dip entire treat in a topping, let it dry.  Drizzle the second topping over to make patterns.
  • You can have lots of fun with this, go crazy with your designs.  Mold the treats into other shapes?  Stick figures, animals, etc!
